fuzzy system. Now it is clear, what is in this black box. The input signals combined to the vector are crisp values, which are transformed into fuzzy sets in the fuzzification block as discussed in section 16.1. The output comes out directly from the defuzzification block, which transforms an output fuzzy set back to a crisp value using methods from section 16.3. The set of membership functions responsible for the transforming part and the rule base as the relational part contain as a whole the modelling information about the system, which is processed by the inference machine from section 16.2. This rule-based fuzzy system is the basis of a fuzzy controller, which is described in the following section.
